Stimulate Human Growth Hormones through Diet and Sleep

The body’s growth is driven by a hormone called, surprisingly(!), Human Growth Hormone or HGH for short.

We need this hormone for growth and muscle repair. Stunted growth is normally a result of the inhibition of human growth hormone.

Without getting scientific HGH is the hormone that gives the body instructions about how much energy to send to the muscles for repair and development.

Inhibition of these hormones will slow your growth, stimulation of these hormones will give you a better chance to grow taller and stronger.

There is an amino acid that stimulates the release of HGH. This amino acid is called Glutamine.

Glutamine is one of the basic “building blocks” of life. DNA has the patterns for around 20 diffent amino acids, glutamine being one of the 20. From these 20 “building blocks” the rest of our human bodies are constructed.

Because glutamine is responsible for stimulating HGH guess what? We need to make sure we are getting enough glutamine.

Dietary sources of glutamine are:  beef, chicken, fish, eggs, milk, dairy products, wheat, cabbage, beets, beans, spinach, and parsley.

If you want to boost your glutamine levels (and therefore your HGH levels) then add more of these foods into your diet.

If you lift weights or have ever trained for a sport you might recognize some of these foods (especially beef, eggs and spinach) as classic bodybuilding food. That’s not a coincidence. These glutamine-rich food stuffs and the HGH cascade they trigger help with the growth of muscles.

Whether you are bulking out sideways through weight training or you want to grow vertically you need HGH and glutamine.

Aside from exercise and eating, it is super important for your body to rest.  Correct sleeping habits can help you grow taller. Nice!

HGH Needs Sleep to Work Wonders

It is vitally important to get at least eight hours of sleep. Good sleep. Not sleep disturbed by caffeine or alcohol (which does not help you sleep, despite popular belief).

It is in the first couple of hours of sleep that HGH and muscular repair and growth really kick in. Your body was waiting for you to enter a rest state before it sets about repairing and boosting your muscles. Think of this as a period of maintenance – once you’ve stopped moving around, exercising and eating your body kicks in and repairs your muscles whilst you sleep. Sweet deal!

It’s important to not disturb this process. You need enough sleep and high quality sleep.

Consider getting an app on your phone like SleepCycle or SleepBot. Here’s a useful article on finding a good sleep tracker.

So to wrap up.

Muscular Development comes from HGH and Sleep

HGH is stimulated by Glutamine

Glutamine comes from the foods described above.

So to help your development add those foods to your diet (or increase their amount) and get enough sleep. Your body will deal with the rest if you just let it!
